It may seem like a negative way of looking at things, but sometimes there really isn’t an option that feels best or great, when all the options suck.
Exercise at 5 A.M. VS 7 P.M.? They both stink, but can you decide which is worse? If 7 P.M, is so unlikely and terrible, then do it first thing in the am. Then you’ll have the workout done for the day!
How you feel about your body VS making hard food choices? You’re unhappy with your body and your weight but you can’t stand to feel restricted with your food. Which is worse? Staying the way you are, or making hard changes?
I’m not saying there is a right or wrong answer, but there is the right answer for you right now.
Try it out. See if you can get on board with your decision by thinking about which option is worse and then pick the least worst option.
I can tell you what to do and how to lose weight, and you can follow it. But at some point you need to take the lead in your life and start what I call: Leading By Example. There are many of ways to do this, everyday make some choices that include being active and eating healthy. Get a walking group going with your friends or arrange a “healthy” recipe swap and tasting with friends, or instead of meeting a friend for happy hour, meet at the trailhead for a walk. Basically making good choices and sharing it with others. This helps to keep the momentum going, even when you aren’t feeling it.
Weight loss is work. It’s not easy, it’s not pretty, and it can get down and dirty hard. Exercising when you don’t feel like it, picking foods out of your comfort zone, putting down the wine bottle after 1 glass. These are all tough decisions. You are the only one who can decide if its worth it to put in the effort. If and when you are ready to get started, I’m here to help! One of the hardest things is to keep going, even when you aren’t feeling it. So many people give up. Guess what? They don’t reach their goals. The ones who keep going, well, guess what? They do!
